This past weekend we took a short family trip to Jellystone Park to camp with our kids and our friends. Everyone had a fabulous time! This was our first time camping (in a tent & at a campground) and the kids did so great! I’m so glad that we decided to take the time away. I promised myself that I wouldn’t keep my phone with me during the trip (for my normal email/FB/message check), and I definitely enjoyed my time “unplugged.” Don’t get me wrong, we still had plenty of things to plug-in. At one point during the trip, after the sun went down and the fire was crackling, someone commented about how the golf carts (with their headlights) took a little away from the experience of camping. His wife answered, “I think we gave that up when we packed the Keurig and iHome.” 😉
Jellystone Parks are a great family friendly campground with lots of things for the kids. Mine would have been happy to spend all-day everyday at the waterslides and pool. When they weren’t in the pool, they also loved riding their bikes in front of our site. I was so relieved that all of my kids went to bed at a reasonable time (bedtime normally at home can get pretty miserable) and that meant lots of fun adult time after the kids were asleep! I am so blessed to have such great friends!
Finally, after four days, I was ready to be back at home. I couldn’t believe how dirty everything and everyone was!! I sent the kids straight to the tub while my hubby unloaded our jam-packed van. As I worked on the reorganizing the house and the unending loads of laundry, I praised God for my children, my husband, great friends, His creation, and my clean air-conditioned house. 🙂
Oh, FYI, since I was trying to truly be on a break from work, I decided not to take my SLR camera along. I have a video camera/point & shoot camera that I pulled out for about 10 minutes (total). So….enjoy….
